Abstract

Operational risk within educational learning processes constitutes a critical dimension that directly influences the continuity, efficiency, and overall quality of instructional activities. Emerging from both internal and external sources—including curricular inconsistencies, inadequacies in human resource competencies, administrative inefficiencies, infrastructural limitations, and technological disruptions—these risks pose substantial threats to the attainment of institutional educational objectives. Through a descriptive qualitative approach grounded in an extensive literature review, this article systematically examines the typology, causes, and implications of operational risks in educational settings. Furthermore, the study highlights the urgency of implementing a comprehensive and integrated risk management framework encompassing risk identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, and continuous improvement. The adoption of internationally recognized standards such as ISO 31000,Business Continuity Planning (BCP), and Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP) is underscored as essential in fostering institutional resilience. The findings affirm that effective operational risk management not only minimizes disruptions but also strengthens pedagogical quality, enhances institutional governance, and ensures sustainable educational performance amid evolving challenges.
